An East Devon business has relocated - just metres away - to new premises at Colaton Raleigh.

SJB Foods distributes cooked meats, cheese and sandwich fillings to 450 companies across Devon and Somerset.

The 25-year-old business has moved a short distance away from its previous factory at Clinton Devon Estates’ Old Sawmills industrial estate.

SJB Foods has moved to a unit that is four times bigger than its previous premises. It has been fitted with freezers and refrigerated storage, plus factory facilities for slicing cooked meats and grating all types of cheese.

Stephen Berisford, managing director, praised Clinton Devon Estates for accommodating the company.

He said: “We needed a larger unit as we had exceeded our space, but we wanted to stay on the Old Sawmills industrial estate. Fortunately, Clinton Devon Estates was able to accommodate us.

“The location of the Old Sawmills is ideal; it’s one of the reasons we initially chose to start the company here. We supply 450 companies within a 50-mile radius.

“Our move has been so much easier because we’ve only had to relocate to the opposite unit – which we have upgraded and now provides us with everything we need to continue delivering an excellent service to our current customers and, hopefully, to new ones.”

Adrian Pitts, estate surveyor at Clinton Devon Estates, who facilitated the company’s move, said: “We’ve watched SJB Foods grow right from the beginning and we’re really pleased that we’re able to support the next stage of their business growth.”
