East Devon MP Sir Hugo Swire has marked the start of construction at a new block of retirement flats in Exmouth.

Sir Hugo joined developer McCarthy and Stone’s site manager Kevin Weeks at Pincombe Court, to find out more about the development and take a tour of the site.

Sir Hugo said: “It was a pleasure to visit the site of McCarthy and Stone’s planned new development in Exmouth, and mark the start of construction there.

“It was a good opportunity to meet the site manager and hear first-hand about the housebuilder’s latest lifestyle living development which will help to meet the housing needs of retirees in Exmouth and surrounding areas.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Simon Mantell said: “We are delighted Sir Hugo was able to take the time to visit our Exmouth site.”

Pincombe Court, on the former site of Davey Court in Buckingham Close, consists of 27 apartments for residents aged 55 and over.
