Cyclists from CDE raised £4,000 for FORCE

A group of cyclists from Clinton Devon Estates (CDE)have raised more than £4,000 for FORCE cancer charity, writes Daniel Wilkins.

The team of 11 rode a total of more than 1,000 miles in the annual Nello challenge.

They joined 1,000 other cyclists taking part in the event, which started and ended at Topsham Rugby Club. Nine cyclists from CDE tackled the longer 100-mile course, taking in a steep climb up Exmoor, while two others took on the 44-mile circuit.

John Varley, estates director at CDE and one of the Nello team, said: “The event was brilliantly organised and everyone had a great day.

“It was really touching to see hundreds of people giving up their day to volunteer and to see thousands more take part in the challenge to raise money for the charity.

“One member of staff even completed the challenge after suffering three punctures.”
