East Devon Green Party set up a pitched camp in the grounds of Exeter Cathedral last weekend to campaign for a more equal society.
The ‘occupy’ movement which started in Wall Street and spread to Madrid, Bristol and outside St Paul’s Cathedral in London, has now started to take root in Devon.
Councillor Sharon Pavey was one of several Green Party members who attended the peaceful march through the centre and set up the camp on the Cathedral Green on Saturday.
Cllr Pavey said: “For ordinary people who want to express their frustration and dissatisfaction with this government, the ‘occupy’ movement is a way to show how they feel.”
