The first phase of a project to improve facilities at East Budleigh’s village green has been completed.

In less than a year, more than £80,000 has been raised thanks to donations from individuals, businesses and charitable trusts.

This has allowed the East Budleigh Village Green committee to replace ‘much loved’ swings and install covered seating.

The committee held a celebratory afternoon tea to mark the ‘major achievement’ with more than 160 people attending.

Committee member Alice Garter said: “It’s almost a year since the deteriorated play equipment was removed from the green, and it’s so exciting to see the new pieces being enjoyed by the children. I think the smiles on their faces say it all.”

The team are now working towards phase two of the regeneration.

Anyone who would like to get involved with the project should contact Mike Pulley on 01395 743205
