East Budleigh with Bicton Parish Council has teamed up with landowners Clinton Devon Estates to create a new nature trail in the village.

The new trail runs along an old railway track below the telephone mast and is accessible from Tidwell Lane and end by the Farmhouse in Middle Street.

Interpretation boards have been put up, with images supplied by famous photographer David White and designer Ray Marrs.

A group of volunteers planted 25 trees and eight rubbing posts with slate carvings of wildlife.

The parish council has produced a nature kit, which can be purchased from East Budleigh Community Shop. This includes tracing paper and wax papers for taking the ‘rubbings’.

Parish clerk, Judith Venning, thanked Councillor Fiona Ward for her management of the project and all the many volunteers who helped to make this a real amenity for the village and the local children.

It is hoped bug boxes and other natural features can be added in the future.
