A reunion of East Budleigh Football Club’s most successful team has been hailed a success.

Players, supporters, coaches and volunteers from the trophy-winning village side came together to mark one of the best seasons in the club’s history 40 years on.

The 1977-78 campaign saw East Budleigh Football Club win what was then the Intermediate Division One East and also bagged a hat-trick of cup wins.

Four decades after that famous triumph, the club’s then right-back Simon Pratt teamed up with Mark Paver to bring together that successful side.

Former team mates reminisced over old times at East Budleigh over a pint or two at the Walter Raleigh Inn.

Simon said ‘it couldn’t have gone any better’.

He also said that some reconnected with former friends, and there was some talk of getting together for the Trevor Howarth memorial cup match in Budleigh Salterton at the end of the month.
