All creatures great and small headed for East Budleigh last week when Salem Chapel held its annual pet service.

The much-loved pets were blessed during the service, and prayers were said for all animals.

The service was this year attended solely by dog owners. In previous years goats have been taken to the chapel.

Salem Chapel spokeswoman Kathy Moyle said: "Two dogs fell asleep in their owners' arms.

"They all behaved impeccably and there wasn't a bark between them.
