East Budleigh’s All Saints Church was a blaze of colour when a collection of knitted garments went on display.

Each year Stuart and Janet Lavett arrange for some of the elderly residents from a local home to knit a range of items for the poor in Moldavia.

They always make a display of them in the church and later take photos back to the knitters themselves so that they can see the results of their work.

This year, as these pictures illustrate, the vivid colours of all the knitted garments made a tremendous impact in All Saints before the items are gathered up and shipped to those in greatest need in Moldavia.

The western half of Moldavia is now part of Romania, the eastern side belongs to the Republic of Moldova, and the northern and south eastern parts are territories of Ukraine.
