I wish to apologise to the businesses in Budleigh Salterton that I will no longer be using. My reason for this is that I have finally lost all patience with the Balfour Beatty road works. My street has been dug up by them twice in two years, causing traffic havoc. With the temporary lights being over so long a distance, I frequently observe motorists ignoring them. One of these motorists knocked my husband off his bike while legally proceeding through them. However, now I can get out of my drive, I cannot actually get into the town without turning down a road with no signage that eventually becomes closed - and often not before encountering other stuck motorists (and normally a Balfour Beatty hole).I also now have a diversion past my home that has tripled the traffic flow. While I understand that maintenance is required and that I do want to see my over-priced water bill paying for something local, I feel the way these roadworks have been undertaken and the length of time they are taking is completely unacceptable. Therefore, I will now be doing all my shopping in Tesco and Exmouth - as I can actually get there. What a shame, especially when small businesses need money.Amy Munday,Meadow Cottage, Knowle Village.
