The organisers of Sidmouth Science Festival are delighted to announce that a celebrated science communicator will be joining this year's event.

Dr Simon Singh (pictured) has appeared on Radio 4 and BBC’s Horizon, and in 2003 was awarded an MBE for services to science, technology and engineering in education and science communication. He is also a popular author and has written several books including Fermat’s Last Theorem and The Code Book.

Dr Singh will be at the festival on Thursday, October 13, giving a talk entitled ‘From Theorems to Serums, From Cryptology to Cosmology... and The Simpsons’, which will be a whistle-stop tour of all his books from the last decade.

Fermat’s Last Theorem looks at one of the biggest mathematical puzzles of the millennium; The Code Book shares the secrets of cryptology; Big Bang explores the history of cosmology; Trick or Treatment asks some hard questions about alternative medicine; and Simon’s latest book, The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets, enters the world of the world’s most popular television show.

Tickets will be available soon at www.sidmouthsciencefestival.org

The festival organisers will be launching a crowd-funding website next month and say any support will be gratefully received.
