Double standards

Well, well, well, our politicians are still up to their little tricks.

Claiming now for their energy bills, but no surprise as to who is number eight on the list: our own MP for East Devon, the extremely wealthy Honourable Member Hugo Swire, who has claimed £3,198.61 on his second home.

Now, is that the one in London or his new home in Devon?

Whilst pensioners (whose heating allowance has been cut) and struggling families have to worry about the bills, and we wear our extra scarves and jumpers to keep warm, we will be able to bask in the knowledge that our own MP is taking money from his constituents through our tax system, so he can turn up the heating in his desirable homes.

What an example! Certainly he cannot be called a conviction politician, working for the people.

He lectures us in his column: “It simply won’t work. If we want the lights to stay on, consumers and taxpayers are, by some means or other, going to have to pay for it!”

Mr Swire, I think that it is time you paid for your indifferent attitude to your constituents and the electorate at large, by being deselected as our MP.

You are a poor example of the ruling class, having learned nothing from the expenses scandal; can you not see you have become a liability to the Conservative Party?

Resign now and let us elect a representative who is in touch with the thousands of struggling residents in East Devon, of whom you have little or no knowledge or understanding.
