Don’t walk

PUBLISHED: 07:00 23 March 2013

After reading the letters referring to bicycles, it occurred to me how unfriendly Exmouth was becoming towards pedestrians.

No matter what pavement you are on you encounter cyclists, even in the Madeira Walk although there is a cycle lane in Bath Road.

Also, if you are coming from the direction of the bus depot and want to go to the Strand there is no safe way of crossing, especially if you are visually impaired, unless you walk along the parade down Exeter Road as far as the school, which has a crossing that bleeps to let you know it is safe, then walk back down, go through the Magnolia Centre to the crossing in Rolle Street, and walk back down to the Strand where you will more than likely encounter skateboarders and scooterists.

A fed-up pedestrian
