THE change to warmer weather has already prompted a flurry of phone calls to Exmouth police reporting dogs locked in hot cars.
Officers said many of the pets have been left in vehicles without shade or ventilation.
Police community support officer Stuart Penny said: "Cars heat up quite quickly on a sunny day and this leaves the animals in considerable distress.
