Dog haters are in the minority

PUBLISHED: 07:00 25 April 2014

I would just like to say a few things about the anti-dog nonsense expressed by a minority who it seems have little better to do with their time.

The present arrangement seems to me to be a good compromise. Most of the beach is banned for dogs for the entire summer season – fair enough, the town makes its living from tourism. But should you wish to walk your dog at Orcombe Point/Rodney Bay, that is fine.

It has always worked, so what, pray, is wrong with that?

The letter you chose to print the other day was erroneous in the extreme and was not a true or accurate representation of most dogs or their owners (“A dog-free zone has my support”, Opinion, April 3).

I would dearly love to pick up the Journal and not be exposed to this sort of myopic diatribe, but everyone is, of course, entitled to their opinion. I’m sure, however, that I speak for a lot of dog owners who would be extremely unhappy if their enjoyment was spoilt by the unreasonable views of a tiny minority.
