The family event was organised in partnership with the Jurassic Coast Trust and attracted a bumper crowd as all the tickets were sold out in less than two days.

The Dippy on Tour came with a 3D replica of Dippy’s skull, which was displayed in the library, in Exeter Road.

Chris Woodward, one of the Jurassic Coast Trust ambassadors gave a talk with sound effects and music. Children were invited to take part in a T-Rex Gangnam Style dance.

Senior library supervisor Beatrice Coveney said: “There were many opportunities for the children to explore and experience different aspects of the work involved in finding fossils.

“This is one of many events that take place at the library throughout the year, providing local people with the chance to explore and connect with the wider world.”
