Dinosaur model plan for Exmouth certainly not extinct

Phear Park and Manor Gardens are being discussed as possible venues for the return of dinosaurs to Exmouth.

The project to put up replica models of the prehistoric creatures in the town is in recognition of the town’s position at the start of the Jurassic Coast.

Exmouth Town Team has started researching the idea, which would offer an educational resource for children.

At a town council meeting, members were told Devon County Council highways department thought the idea of placing the models on roundabouts was a ‘bad idea’.

During the meeting, it was suggested the models could be placed in Phear Park and, if tastefully done, in Manor Gardens.

Councillor Alison Greenhalgh said: “As we are the beginning of the Jurassic Coast, the Town Team wants to give Exmouth a high-profile on this.”

It was also suggested that smaller models of the dinosaurs could be sold in some of the town’s shops and a themed treasure hunt for children could take place.
