Devoted parents in Topsham have raised around £800 so a school football team can have new kit and tracksuit bottoms.
Topsham Primary School deputy headteacher Kevin Martin said he put out a plea to parents in the school newsletter.
The children used the new kit in a football tournament where they lost 2-1 against Wynstream in the final.
Mr Martin expressed his thanks to the parents and revealed the kit will be used by all of key stage two.
He said: “The parents bought the kit after I put a request in our school newsletter to see if anyone would like to sponsor a kit for our school, as we no longer had one. I only arrived at the school in September and found a few old tops, but we definitely needed new ones.
“Two parents chipped in together for the football kit. They have children in year six, both of whom are in the football team. They have been really pleased with Topsham Primary School and felt they wanted to show their appreciation.”
The new kit is being sponsored by a number of Topsham businesses. Turl R&G, the Fish Shed and the URPad have all agreed to sponsor the team.
Mr Martin said the children will be ‘proud’ to wear their new kit.
