Exmouth resort links up with Slimming World for new healthy living menu

Inspired by the story of a Woodbury Salterton man who shed nearly 14 stone, an Exmouth tourist resort has introduced a new healthy lifestyle menu.

Devoncourt Resort, in Douglas Avenue, has decided to offer a healthy lifestyle menu which appeals to members of Slimming World.

This means that members of weight-loss group who want to dine out or meet friends for lunch now have somewhere to go where they can continue to eat healthily.

Jamie Dawe, assistant manager at Devoncourt, said: “Many of our members tell us that they use our facilities alongside local Slimming World groups to help keep them on track or maintain their weight loss.

“We currently offer a varied menu, but feel this is the perfect opportunity to add a healthy lifestyle-friendly menu.

“We wanted to improve the dining out experience for those on the Slimming World plan by becoming one of the only restaurants in Exmouth to offer a menu whereby you can have an extremely healthy three-course meal.

“We have carefully put together a variety of choices to appeal to many tastes and have worked closely with Exmouth Slimming World consultants to produce a menu.”

Inspiration for the scheme drawn from Woodbury Salterton granddad and Slimming World member Tony Westaway, who lost more than 13 stone through a combination of the weight-loss plan and exercise.

Tony, who is a member of Devoncourt Leisure Club, gained national recognition after being named the Slimming World Man of the Year for 2017.

Receptionist Martin Jones, who has worked at the resort for 20 years, is a former Slimming World member himself.

Inspired by Tony’s story, he came up with the idea of offering a healthy living option in the hotel’s restaurant.

He said there should be a restaurant where it is easy to choose a healthy item and pushed through the idea for the hotel to offer the menu.

The menu will be officially launched on Friday, April 13, and will be served alongside the hotel’s other meal options.
