The Devon Orchid Society hailed their annual show as a ‘success’ after visitors from the last two remaining orchid nurseries in England made an appearance.
More than a thousand variants of orchids were on show at the Budleigh Orchid show, on Saturday, May 13, as Newton Abbot’s Burnham Nurseries and Lawrence Hobbs Orchids, based in Sussex, visited.
On the day, orchid enthusiasts took the chance to discuss potting and growing the plant, take part in a competition, raffle and tombola.
The Devon Orchid Society publicity officer, Keith Northover, said: “It was a very successful show.
“We had 180 people come through the door which was much larger then last year so we are very happy.
“Many people expressed many good feelings about the day, especially the winners.”
