The Steve Ford' Airbase, at Eaglescott Airfield, Umberleigh, was officially opened on Thursday by BBC Radio Devon presenter Judi Spiers.
Judi was joined by the family of air ambulance pilot Steve, who died after a tragic motorcycle accident while riding his motorcycle in the Teign Valley in 2008.
Steve's widow, Julia, said: "We have been touched by the many tributes paid to Steve following his death.
"We are immensely proud that he has been recognised in this way.
"It's a wonderful lasting tribute to a great man whose life we were privileged to share."
