THE dedication service to immortalise the names of two of Exmouth’s heroes on the War Memorial for posterity has been set for next month.
The families of fallen RAF aircraftman Kinikki Griffiths and Exmouth Royal Marine Stephen ‘Whiskey’ Walker have chosen Saturday April 24 at 10.30am at the Strand War memorial for the official addition of their names to Exmouth’s War Memorial.
The names have already been added to the war memorial thanks to the generous donations of residents to the Exmouth War Memorial Fund
Mayor Darryl Nicholas, buglers, the Royal British Legion and representatives from the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force will be among those invited to the ceremony to be conducted by Reverend Tony Oswin.
Lionel Howell from the Exmouth War Memorial Fund said: “The families have decided that date for themselves.
“Although it is a dedication ceremony for the two soldiers the public are more than welcome to pay their respects.”
