A DEDICATION service will be held to mark the addition of senior aircraftman Kinniki Griffiths and Royal Marine Stephen Walker's names to Exmouth's war memorial.

The service will be held at 10.30am on Saturday, February 19.

Lionel Howell, from Exmouth War Memorial Fund, said: “Any ex-service personnel, from any of the three services, and all civilians are welcome to attend.”

Trooper Jack Sadler’s name was engraved on the memorial in May 2008. Mr Sadler was killed while serving in Southern Afghanistan.

Stephen Walker, from 40 Commando, was killed in an explosion near Patrol Base Almas, in Sangin, Helmand province, last year.

He was conducting a joint foot patrol with the Afghan National Army to reassure and improve the security for the local population in the area when the incident took place.

Colleagues serving alongside the fallen soldier said the Ex-Navy chef turned Royal Marine corporal was a charismatic legend, a natural leader who served with passion and pride who inspired all around him with his professionalism, values and standards.

Kinikki Griffiths, from the RAF regiment, was killed in a vehicle accident in Afghanistan, also last year.

He died just weeks before he was due to celebrate his 21st birthday.
