DCC on the look-out for patrol staff

PUBLISHED: 12:30 04 January 2017

Devon County Council (DCC) has started a search for school crossing patrol staff to fill vacancies in Exmouth.

People are needed to fill the positions, which involve making sure children and their parents cross busy roads safely, at Brixington Primary Academy, Marpool Primary School and Withycombe Raleigh C of E Primary School.

Councillor Stuart Hughes, DCC cabinet member for highway management, said: “School crossing patrols play an important role on our highway network.

“They are highly valued by the county council and local communities.

“It’s a shame that there are 17 vacant sites across Devon and there must be people out there who would consider taking on this rewarding job.”

Patrols work around five to seven hours per week during the school term and earn £7.52 per hour.

A uniform, full training and ongoing support are provided by DCC.
