A SELL-OUT charity ball at Bicton College raised more than 3,400 for charity.

The event, which attracted 200 guests, was organised in memory of Daniel Manley to raise funds for Cancer Research.

Daniel, an agricultural student at the college between 2002 and 2007, died of the extremely rare signet ring cell cancer on November 28, 2009. He was just 23.

Becky Manley, his sister, and her friend Suzanne Warne, organised the evening, which included a disco, raffle and auction, and raised 3,425.92.

Becky said: “Everyone had a brilliant night and people are already asking if there will be another one next year. It was a perfect way to celebrate Dan’s life and to mark the year that has passed where Dan hasn’t been with us.”

Bicton’s events manager Jessica Oates said: “The college was very pleased to be able to donate the use of the venue to the Manley family and to Cancer Research.”
