Fire crews were called out last night (Tueday, October 2) to deal with a fire involving gas cylinders in Woodbury Salterton.

Appliances from Exmouth and Topsham attended the incident at around 9pm along with an environmental protection unit from Newton Abbot.

An officer in charge confirmed there was a large fire involving waste materials, cylinders, a diesel tank and a heavy goods vehicle trailer.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: “Crews got to work to extinguish the fire using breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one main jet.

“Fire crews monitored hotspots for some time before leaving the incident.”
