Crowds turn out in force for Royal Marines spectacular

MORE than a thousand people enjoyed a warm summers evening at the spectacular Beat Retreat ceremony held the at the Estuary Road car park on Monday.

VIPS including officers from the Commando Training Centre Lympstone and the Police, Ambulance, Fire, Coastguard and Lifeboat services were entertained at the annual military pageant performed by the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines

Hosted by the Chairman of East Devon District Council, Councillor Paul Diviani, the event also saw local councillors, business leaders and representatives of armed services' associations including the Royal British Legion, Royal Air Forces Association, the Burma Star Association and East Devon branches of the Royal British Legion attend.

A collection in aid of ELF, Exeter Leukaemia Fund was also held.
