ON the eve of its 150th anniversary Budleigh Cricket Club has never been so active.According to the club's secretary and welfare officer, Kevin Curran, the renaissance follows in the wake of its new pavilion in 2005.The club is optimistic that it is about to achieve its 'Clubmark' accreditation from the English Cricket Board. This is awared in recognition of the high standard of performance throughout the club's activities.Kevin commented: "It raises the bar in regard to the whole approach to junior cricket. Budleigh runs four colts teams and next season, in conjunction with Exmouth Community College, will establish an additional side in the Exeter and District mid-week league, which will be run to help in the development of young players."Links have also been established with Otterton Junior School and St Peter's Primary School.Kevin said: "The club is particularly pround of its 'club for all' approach."Budleigh's 1st X1 are competing for this season's premier championship and the 2nd X1 are also doing well. He added: "There is a very active ladies' section which also contributes to the overall success of the club.
