I am writing to thank everyone who helped with the NatWest CricketForce event at the Maer Ground over the April 3-5 weekend. More than 70 volunteers, young and old, put in 120 days equivalent of work to implement a wide range of improvements at the club, including redecorating, building works and renovations to the 160-year-old pavilion. Many friends, families and businesses supported members in carrying out these improvements and I want to say a special thank you to the following businesses: Helen Joscelyn, of Tesco, Richard King, of Kings Garden and Leisure, Leese's Skip Hire, David Wilson, of Wilson's Paints, Peter Stewart, of Devon Signs, Gary Rice and Kevin Smith, of CAP Ceilings and Partitions, and especially Adam Rowlands, of AR Developments and Jason Ingham for their enormous and professional work in building the raised garden and ramp for the less able members of, and visitors to, the club. The club also received donations from individual members and additional help from representatives of the ECB and NatWest Bank, which was most appreciated. Since the event, we have been notified that the ECB would like to use the Exmouth example nationally to illustrate what can be done within other clubs who have yet to register for this event and the support which can be found within the local community. Richard Butler,Secretary, Exmouth Cricket Club.
