Motorists face further delays as Exmouth’s flood diversion route across the common is closed because of an accident

Motorists using the B3179 Woodbury Road to avoid a diversion in Exmouth face delays following reports the road is closed because of an accident.

Witnesses say a coach and a lorry were involved in a collision and the road is closed from the A3052 Sidmouth Road, Halfway House junction, to Woodbury Park.

Motorists have been seen turning vehicles away from the scene, to avoid delays, and retracing their steps.

The B3179 Woodbury Road is the diversion route for motorists while the main route in and out of Exmouth remains closed in both directions between the Hulham Road junction and the B3179, in Clyst St George.

The road closure is due to problems caused by severe flooding over the weekend.

Motorists have been advised to use the B3179 Woodbury Road to the B3180 at Lympstone Common and the A3052 Sidmouth Road.
