THE COUNTDOWN has started to this year's Topsham in Bloom competition.

Judging for the event, which last year received a record number of entries, will take place during the last week of July.

The categories will be: Residential front gardens; residential containers, shops, non-residential, for instance, pubs and clubs, as well as community group displays.

Entry forms for the competition, run by The Topsham Society, will be available from the beginning of June at the library or by calling David Woods on (01392) 874901.

The winners will be announced in August.

There were 58 entries in last year's event with judges commending both the number and quality of submissions.

The Lodge, in Grove Hill, scooped the 2009 residential front garden title; number six Victoria Road won the best residential pots; Chapel Place, community groups, The Wardrobe, shop category and Topsham Bowling Club, non-residential.
