NEARLY £59,000 has been given to small projects in East Devon by county councillors in the past year.
Each Devon County Councillor has £10,000 a year to support community projects in their area and in the past 12 months 80 projects have benefited.
Of these 48 have received match funding from other organisations estimated to be over £388,000.
Among projects to benefit is the Exe Estuary Festival, Spirit of the Exe, which brings together local businesses and statutory bodies to showcase and celebrate the Exe Estuary.
East Devon county committee chairman, Lympstone’s Cllr Bernard Hughes said: “We can really make a difference with the money we allocate to local projects.”
