COUNCIL tenants will be paying less rent from next spring, and housing bosses are in the process of sending out 1,400 letters informing householders of the new rates.

East Devon District Council is reducing rent by by approximately three cent
from April 6.
Rental manager Peter Richards said: "Tenants receiving housing benefit will not gain
from this reduction as housing benefit will be reduced by the same amount as the rent reduction.

From this week EDDC will be writing to tenants to confirm their new
payment details - and from November 30 approximately 5000 rent statements will be sent out.
He added: "It will be a very busy three weeks and the service will deal with the volume of calls and the day to day work as effectively as possible."
