Council support for Exmouth sports pitch regeneration

PUBLISHED: 14:36 01 August 2017

Newly detailed plans for homes and regenerated sports pitches in Exmouth have been approved by town planners.

Proposals for 23 age-restricted homes and upgraded sports facilities at the former Rolle College Playing Fields in Douglas Avenue received outline planning permission last year.

Now, developer Blue Cedar Homes has sought approval for reserved matters, including the appearance of the homes.

At their meeting this week, members of Exmouth Town Council’s planning committee voted to support.

Councillor Maddy Chapman said: “We are getting playing fields and a pavilion, so at least we are getting something.”

Councillors also agreed to recommend that a financial contribution was made from the development towards services for elderly people.

The proposal includes three football pitches – a full size pitch, a youth pitch, and a ‘mini’ pitch.

East Devon District Council will make the final decision on planning permission.
