PLANS to build a new home on land at 9 Vales Road, Budleigh Salterton, has failed to win council support.
PLANS to build a new home on land at 9 Vales Road, Budleigh Salterton, has failed to win council support.
District council officers decided under delegated powers the application should not go ahead because the plans were an over-development of the site, detrimental to the street scene, out of keeping with the existing homes in the area, would affect neighbours' privacy and light and would be detrimental to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Officers said the plot was not a brown field site and a home already at the existing site would overlook the proposed development.
Concerns were also raised about the loss of on-street parking causing extra congestion in Granary Lane, Vales Road and Swains Road.
