EAST Budleigh has been visited by environmental health officers as part of the village s drive to stamp out dog mess.

EAST Budleigh has been visited by environmental health officers as part of the village's drive to stamp out dog mess.

The district council officers met up with East Budleigh's neighbourhood police team to discuss residents' dog fouling concerns.

And the police team also carried out early morning patrols in the village's recreation ground, issuing warning advice notices to all dog owners.

Police community support officer Malcolm Maguire advised dog owners free dog bags were available to pick up from the East Budleigh Community Shop.

PCSO Maguire said: "The officers were in East Budleigh to discuss events and to state that the fine for dog fouling has increased to £80, and that tickets will be ready shortly for officers to issue.

"The issue of dog fouling is very-much a talking point in village life and it has created some healthy debate.
