REPORTER David Beasley was wrong when he stated that the yearly cost of paying for a TV Licence by Direct Debit is £324 ('No pay couple take on the Beeb', December 4). Regardless of your payment method, the cost of a colour TV Licence is £139.50 and monthly direct debit payments will always add up to this amount.

With monthly Direct Debit, your first licence is paid in equal monthly payments within the first six months. After this, you start paying towards your next licence in 12 monthly instalments of around £11 per month (six payments before it begins and six after).

Direct Debit is TV Licensing's most popular payment method, now used by over 12 million licence fee payers.
