Come and see us

It was really refreshing to read John Fletcher’s letter responding to that of Mr Toole (“It’s not arrogant”, Opinion, March 14).

We Kippers had begun to wonder whether anyone else realises what is really happening in the European Union.

Mr Toole thinks that another war between EU members is inconceivable. I can only assume he has not noticed the ill-feeling generated by austerity measures and lack of democracy in Spain and Greece and Portugal et al.

People are hungry, jobless and frightened and suddenly aware that they have little or no say in what happens in the corridors of power in their own countries.

UKIP-like groups are forming everywhere, the leaders of some of them coming to speak to us and share thoughts at Conference. They tell us they want Nigel. Well, they can’t have him!

We do not want to destroy Europe, we merely wish to leave the European Union. We have studied the effects of doing so – we’re not just stamping our feet and refusing to do as we’re told. We want our country and our Queen back.

We’re out and about in the next few days with a purple pamphlet that explains what we’re about. Look out for the group with red noses and blue hands and thundering great umbrellas in the Magnolia Centre.

If you think we’re nuts, come and tell us. Only nicely, please!
