COLATON Raleigh residents living in the Church Road area of the village are being urged to keep their hedges free from the brook.

The county council is asking residents with properties adjoining the brook to keep hedges cut back and not to allow cuttings to clog up the stream.

The parish council said it will continue to ask for regular cleaning of the brook by the parish lengthsman.

Colaton Raleigh parish council clerk Amanda Blackmore said: "In addition, any vehicle access over the brook in the form of a pipe is the responsibility of the homeowner to ensure water is allowed to pass through free of obstruction.
