A COLATON Raleigh garden will become a haven of music on Saturday July 4 when a concert is held in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Colaton Raleigh residents Dave McKeown and Sue Moger are hosting an afternoon of the best in jazz, folk and rock music.

The free event is being held at Brooklyn, Brook Lane, off Church Road.

The concert is open to all with free entry - there will be a collection for the charity throughout the evening.

The music starts at 1.30pm and will go through to around 7.30pm.

Bands include local favourites like Ellingtonia, the Joyce Gang and El Cojones, along with a host of solo performers such as Paul Downes and Dave Wood - all giving their time and talent for free.

Sue said: "Alongside the professionals we have formed a Colaton Raleigh Village Band especially for the occasion and this will be our first public performance."

There will also be a raffle, bar, light refreshments and a barbecue.

Children are welcome.

Visitors are encouraged to bring something to sit on.

The event will be held in the village hall in the event of wet weather.

Dave said: "I perform music and teach all over the West Country so it's great fun to get some of my musician friends together to play for such a good cause.

"The Teenage Cancer Trust does a fantastic job building special units so teenagers can receive treatment surrounded by people their own age rather than in children's wards.

"These are bright, modern and cheerful places and recovery is often helped by creating a positive and supportive environment."
