A MAN who broke his leg on Sandy Bay beach, Exmouth, was on Thursday evening airlifted to hospital by coastguard helicopter.
Exmouth coastguards were called to the beach by the Exmouth RNLI beach lifeguards to help South Western Ambulance paramedics take the man to the ambulance.
When conditions proved too difficult to move the casualty on foot, the coastguard helicopter winched him by stretcher to a field at the top of the cliff, where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.
