MUSIC FESTIVAL: Exmouth singers are being invited to attend a festival of church music.

The festival, which is being organised by the Devon Area of the Royal School of Church Music, takes place at Exeter Cathedral on November 5.

The day, which is open to choirs and individual singers, will consist of a day of rehearsals from 11am, before a service at 4pm.

FAMILY TREE HELP: People who want to research their family tree are being given a helping hand with a Help Desk event being organised by the Devon Family History Society.

It takes place at the Devon Record Office in Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter, on November 3, from 10am to 3pm.

The society’s volunteers will be available to advise people about researching their ancestors and their origins. Each visitor is guaranteed 45 minutes of assistance, and booking is essential. To book, call (01392) 384253.

FISH STOCK: A new report showing UK sea fisheries statistics shows an increase in the quantity and value of fish landed at Exmouth.

The Marine Management Organisation’s (MMO) annual report, UK Sea Fisheries Statistics 2010, includes detailed figures on the UK fishing fleet, the number of fishermen, the quantity and value of landings, international trade and the state of key fishing stocks.

The study shows the total landings made at Exmouth in 2010 were 2.2 tonnes with a value of �1.5million compared to 1.6 tonnes at a cost of �1.2million the previous year.
