MANY of East Devon’s leading figures are opting to donate money to local charities instead of sending out the traditional Christmas card.

Instead, to save cash, they are sending cards by e-mail and giving money to local causes.

MP Hugo Swire said: “This year instead of sending a traditional Christmas card I have decided to make a donation to Help for Heroes.

“Christmas greetings this year therefore come courtesy of the children at Broadclyst Primary School in East Devon who have designed my first ever e-card. “

Estate Manager of Clinton Devon Estates, John Varley added: “Rather than send a card, this year we are donating funds to local churches across the estate to help those in need at Christmas time.”
