YOUNG children have been burning off their energy and learning new skills by attending pre-school activity classes.

Organised by Lions Den, a mixed martial arts training centre, based on Pound Lane, Exmouth, the sessions are aimed at youngsters aged from two-and-a-half and upwards.

Head coach Dave Matthews, said the classes called Lion Cubs, which have been running since the start of the year, helped build a child's social skills, confidence, coordination, balance, control and fitness.

He added: "They also prepare a child for school by developing their memory and listening schools.

"We use techniques called the sherborne development movement. The classes channel excess energy."

The sessions take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at the Lions Den centre. For more information about the classes call Exmouth 268100.
