A new childcare service has opened in Exmouth after closing in Budleigh Salterton at the end of 2016.

Carousel Childcare, now based at Exmouth Town Football Club, moved from its previous home on the site of St Peter’s Primary School.

To mark the start of a new era, the nursery held an open day to welcome new parents and their children to the service.

Carousel director Sarka Andersonova said: “It was a really nice and positive beginning and there is a good feel about the place. The premises we have are a little bigger than what we had before – parents and children seem to be liking it.”

Carousel had been in Budleigh for more than 30 years. Last spring, the Journal reported that St Peter’s headteacher Steve Hitchcock had told parents the school was not renewing Carousel’s lease and would be using the space for extra classrooms.

After searching for a new home in Budleigh and Exmouth, Carousel was offered the chance to be based at the football club in Southern Road.

The nursery will be open from 7.30am until 6pm, catering for children up to the age of three.
