EXPANSION plans at Exmouth's largest supermarket have received a tweak following public input last month.Comments submitted by more then 350 residents have led to changes to designs for the supermarket update. Tesco are set to enlarge the store from 36,000 square feet to 53,000 sq ft.Seven out of 10 respondents backed the plans, which include a new cafe, car wash and improved free bus provision.Changes to the plan now include: a second exit lane on to Salterton Road, a one-way traffic plan and improved flow in the car park outside the store, and 32 per cent extra parking spaces.Plans to double free bus frequency, offer parking for motorhomes and campers and increase disabled parking have also been added.Tesco corporate affairs manager Melanie Chiswell said: "We are grateful to everyone who has returned our comment forms. We have tried to take into account all of the feedback received and hope that the revised plans reflect the wishes of the people in Exmouth. "It is really encouraging that so many people in the local area back Tesco and our plans to improve the shopping experience in the town."Designs, which also seek to improve security and make night-lighting more sensitive at the location, will need to go through district council planning regulations before work potentially starts.
