As a Saltertonian now living in Hampshire, I write to express my views upon the abomination that is proposed for the site of the Longboat Cafe on Budleigh Seafront. While recently staying with my mother, Mrs Bedford of Armytage Road, she showed me a chart of the history of Budleigh Salterton. In the bottom left-hand corner of this chart there is a piece about the Coastguard Cottages and a reference to the housing of the Budleigh Salterton Longboat. This is part of Budleigh's history and should remain so. My father is now 93, was born in Budleigh Salterton and still lives there. Surely, it is part of Budleigh's charm that it has not changed too drastically over the years and that in itself is unique!I implore the East Devon District Council not to give planning consent as this would change Budleigh seafront forever.Mrs Frances Pendrey,88 Charlton Road, Andover, Hants
