NEW architects are planned to help finalise designs for a visitor centre located in the proposed Exe Estuary development site led by ASDA.District councillors were set to meet last night to discuss an £8,000 outlay to secure the services of Plymouth-based Form Design Group. The company, involved in initial stages of the project, would be asked to contribute further detail to designs now a board of trustees for the Exmouth and Seaton Interpretation Centres has decided to pursue plans to work towards an estuary-side centre, potentially linked to a new leisure centre and pool. The £8,000 scheme, proposed by centre project co-ordinator Tracy Guiry, would fail to follow the usual council route of putting contracts out to tender. The change to normal procedure was recommended by EDDC officers fearing the tender process would delay designs and risk losing DCC and South West Regional Development funding. A £2.75 million fund has been set aside by SWRDA for the project, subject to time constraints.
