PIRATES, princesses and Exmouth's mayor will attend an event to celebrate a new garden area at Withycombe Raleigh Playgroup.

The latter of the three aforementioned people on the guest list, mayor Darryl Nicholas, whose duties are not fictitious, are to open the garden last Tuesday, September 15.

A number of fun activities were held for children and parents to mark the day which had a pirates and princesses theme.

The playgroup, a popular pre-school, is based in the parish church hall in Withycombe Village Road.

Established since 1965, the group, managed by parents and carers through an elected committee who employ the staff and administer policies, provides care and education for children from the age of three-years-old.
