A performance parodying the works of William Shakespeare with an East Devon twist will raise funds for Brain Tumour Support.

The cast of Silly Billy are gearing up for the event, being held at The Public Hall, Budleigh Salterton, on Saturday, April 21, which also marks the 454th birthday of the bard on Monday, April 23.

Elements of Shakespeare’s work will be combined with those from the East Devon region and the performance will give a modern slant on plays such as Romeo and Juliet.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Brain Tumour Support, which helps sufferers of the condition across the county.

In what is described as a ‘light-hearted’ approach to the work of Shakespeare, it is hoped that Silly Billy can be an ideal introduction for those just learning about his works.

Tickets costing £8 are available from Card Shop Too, in High Street, and the Tourist Information Centre, in Fore Street.
